Fire Extinguishers & Fire Hoses

Servicing Fire Extinguishers and Fire Hoses

Fire extinguishers are required by law for all commercial buildings. Just as important as having a fire extinguisher is making sure the fire extinguisher is serviced regularly.

For years, we've proudly provided the lower Hudson Valley with comprehensive fire protection services and equipment that protect people, property, and assets from irreparable fire damage. We dedicate ourselves to removing the stress and worries of fire safety and code compliance off our customer's shoulders and delivering peace of mind.

Maintenance and Service

  • Fire extinguishers are durable pieces of equipment. However, a neglected fire extinguisher can succumb to significant damages caused by leaks or rust without proper servicing or maintenance. This can render it useless in the event of an emergency. To prevent this, fire extinguishers should be serviced monthly and yearly to ensure proper functioning.
  • A fire extinguisher requires sufficient levels of pressure and extinguishing agent to combat fires effectively. A fire extinguisher without sufficient charge is a disaster waiting to happen. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requires that fire extinguishers be inspected annually by a professional in charge of the recharging process.
  • Our team of certified trained professionals is equipped to handle every step of the process, from inspection and maintenance to the complete recharging process of your fire extinguisher:
  • Depressurize extinguishing agent
  • Removal of the discharge valve, siphon tube, valve stem, and spring
  • Cleaning and visual inspection of valves
  • Reassembly of the valve system
  • Refilling of extinguishing agent
  • Tank pressurization to the required level
  • Leak and weight test
  • Instalment of new tamper seal and safety pin.

Fire Extinguisher Hydrostatic Testing

A hydrostatic test measures your fire extinguisher's ability to maintain high-pressure levels to thwart and contain dangerous fires. The NFPA and local authorities determined that fire extinguishers should be tested on two different time schedules.

  • Five years – Fire extinguishers operating with pressurized water, carbon dioxide, or wet chemical agent
  • Twelve years – Fire extinguishers are operating with dry chemicals

Our team of fire protection experts can conduct and carry out the entire hydrostatic testing process:

  • Visual inspection of exterior for corrosion or rust
  • Pressure discharge and extinguishing agent removal
  • Inspection of the interior cylinder for flaws
  • Perform the hydrostatic test with water to check for leaks and pressure drops.
  • Draining the cylinder along with replacing disposable parts (valve stem and O-ring)

We're equipped to handle extinguishers of all makes and sizes regardless of extinguisher agent to deliver unmatched peace of mind.
